Research & Evidence

Pranic Healing is not just a spiritual practice — it is a rigorously studied modality with a growing body of peer-reviewed clinical evidence supporting its effectiveness across a range of health conditions.

Overview

The Science of Pranic Healing

Pranic Healing has been the subject of serious academic inquiry since the early 2000s, with a growing body of peer-reviewed research published in respected medical and psychology journals. Unlike many complementary therapies, several Pranic Healing studies have used gold-standard methodologies — randomised controlled trials (RCTs), double-blind designs, and validated measurement instruments — to assess its effects.

Research has explored Pranic Healing’s effects across a range of conditions including depression, diabetic wound healing, EEG brainwave patterns, psychological wellbeing, ADHD, fertility, and more. The findings are consistently encouraging: Pranic Healing participants in controlled studies have shown statistically significant improvements compared to control groups, even in double-blind settings.

Important: Pranic Healing is a complementary therapy and is not intended to replace conventional medical diagnosis or treatment. Always consult with your qualified healthcare provider before making any changes to your medical care.

Peer-Reviewed Clinical Studies

Randomised Controlled Trial — Diabetic Foot Ulcers (2023)
DOI: 10.1177/27536130231183429

A rigorous randomised controlled double-blind trial investigating Pranic Healing as an adjuvant therapy for diabetic foot ulcers. Participants receiving Pranic Healing alongside standard wound care showed significantly greater ulcer size reduction and faster healing rates compared to the control group. This is one of the most methodologically robust studies in the Pranic Healing literature.

Randomised Controlled Trial — Depression (2017)
DOI: 10.1039856217726449

This landmark randomised controlled trial examined Pranic Healing as an adjuvant therapy for participants with mild to moderate depression. Participants receiving Pranic Healing alongside their existing treatment showed statistically significant reductions in depression scores compared to the control group.

Journal: Australasian Psychiatry

EEG Study — Meditation on Twin Hearts (2023)
An EEG study examining the effects of Meditation on Twin Hearts on P300 event-related brain potentials. Findings showed measurable changes in brainwave activity associated with enhanced attention and cognitive processing among regular practitioners compared to novices. Presented at the Tai Chi Qigong & Psychological Functioning Symposium 2023.

sLORETA Neuroimaging Study — Meditation on Twin Hearts (2023)
Using sLORETA (standardised low-resolution brain electromagnetic tomography), this neuroimaging study compared brain activity patterns between experienced Meditation on Twin Hearts practitioners and novices. Experienced meditators showed distinct and more integrated brainwave patterns associated with deeper meditative states and emotional regulation. Tai Chi Qigong & Psychological Functioning Symposium 2023.

Pre-Post Study — Superbrain Yoga & ADHD (2023)
A comparative study examining the effects of Superbrain Yoga — a specific Pranic Healing technique — on attention and hyperactivity indicators in participants with ADHD. Results showed measurable improvements in attention and reductions in hyperactive behaviours. Tai Chi Qigong & Psychological Functioning Symposium 2023.

Microbiome Study — Arhatic Yoga Retreat (2023)
An examination of changes in the gut microbiome among Arhatic Yoga practitioners during an intensive retreat. Significant shifts were observed toward beneficial microbial populations, suggesting a biological mechanism by which advanced Pranic Healing practices may influence physical health through the gut-brain axis. Tai Chi Qigong & Psychological Functioning Symposium 2023.

Inpatient Psychiatric Study — Stress Reduction (2023)
A study conducted within an inpatient psychiatric setting measuring the effects of a single Pranic Healing stress reduction session. Significant reductions in self-reported stress and anxiety were observed immediately following the session, supporting Pranic Healing as a complementary intervention in mental health care settings. Tai Chi Qigong & Psychological Functioning Symposium 2023.

Pilot Study — IVF & Pranic Healing (2019)
A pilot study examining whether integrating Pranic Healing protocols into the IVF process improves implantation and pregnancy success rates. Participants who received Pranic Healing alongside IVF treatment showed improved outcomes compared to historical controls. Conference: AIHM (Academy of Integrative Health Medicine).
