The Color Pranas, Explained Simply
Most people arrive at a first session with the same quiet question: what are you actually doing with your hands? The honest answer involves a lot you cannot see, and the most useful way into it is color.
In Pranic Healing, colors are not mood lighting or decoration. Each one describes a quality of energy a healer works with: how it moves, what it breaks down, what it builds back up. Once you know the core colors, a session stops looking mysterious and starts looking like a series of deliberate choices.
Why Color Matters at All
The work happens on the energy body, and different problems are not the same problem. A blockage sitting for years and a fresh strain need very different qualities of energy. Using one for both is like using a hammer for every job in the shed.
Color is the shorthand healers use for those qualities. It is a practical vocabulary, not a belief system. If you want the wider picture of how a session is structured, Pranic Healing Explained: How It Really Works covers the mechanics from the ground up.
What Each Color Prana Does
White prana is the raw material. It arrives as vitality globules and the chakras break it down into six color pranas — red, orange, yellow, green, blue and violet. Color pranas are more specialized and more potent than white prana itself, which is why a session chooses between them rather than working in white throughout.
Two more sit above that set: electric violet, which comes from the higher soul, and gold, which is what electric violet becomes when it meets the etheric body.
- Light whitish red — warm, strengthening, expansive, distributive and constructive. It stimulates and activates, sustains the physical body, vitalizes the blood, the muscles and the reproductive system and lifts low vitality.
- Light whitish orange — expelling, eliminating, decongesting, splitting and destructive. It clears what should not be there rather than building anything: it flushes out waste, breaks down tumors and blockages, and contracts tissue.
- Light whitish yellow — cementing, assimilating and initiating. It helps the body take in what it needs, supports the healing of bones, activates the nervous system and helps distribute the other pranas.
- Light whitish green — decongesting, cleansing, detoxifying, disinfecting and dissolving. The primary cleansing color, used extensively on congestion, toxins and diseased energy in the internal organs.
- Light whitish blue — disinfecting, inhibiting, contracting, soothing, cooling and flexible. It reduces inflammation, lowers fever, calms the nerves and relieves pain.
- Light whitish violet — contains the properties of all the other color pranas and multiplies their effect. The light violet shade is the regenerating one, used for cellular recovery and spiritual work.
- Electric violet — drawn from the higher soul and seen as brilliant white with light violet at the periphery. It is more powerful than ordinary violet, holds every property of the color pranas, and has a consciousness of its own. It belongs to advanced work, not to routine sessions.
- Gold — what electric violet becomes once it touches the etheric body, and what turns to light red when the physical body absorbs it. Milder and less fluidic than electric violet, it is the color of regeneration and repair: used on tissue that has been depleted, and in advanced work to reverse the aging process. Other traditions know it as heaven ki in Taoist yoga, the pillar of light in Kabbalah, the descent of the Holy Spirit in Christianity, and antahkarana, the bridge of light, in India.
Plain white prana keeps its own job: general sweeping, before any color is applied. That is the clearing at the start of a session, and it happens before anything is built back up.
The order matters. Cleansing comes before anything constructive, which is why a session moves through stages rather than settling on a single color: you clear the space before you fill it. That is why a session can feel like it has distinct parts even when nothing is said out loud.
The Light-Whitish Colors and the Chakras
The light-whitish grades are drawn from particular energy centers rather than imagined from scratch, which is why two colors can look similar and behave differently depending on where they are drawn from. If the word chakra is new to you, Pranic Healing Chakras: What Each One Does walks through them one at a time before you read further.
Electric violet sits at the finest end of the set and is the one most closely tied to the crown center. It is not reached for casually: it belongs to advanced work on serious conditions, and a healer who uses it on a mild tension headache is either exaggerating or out of their depth.
How a Healer Actually Chooses
Nobody is handed a color at the door. The assessment comes first: scanning the energy body, feeling where it is dense, where it is thin, where it is cold. The color follows the reading. Get the reading wrong and the most beautiful-sounding color in the book will do nothing.
The condition of the healer matters too. A session takes something out of the person giving it, which is why cleaning up afterwards is standard practice and not an optional extra. Pranic Healing Techniques: What Hands Actually Do goes into the hand positions and the sequencing in more detail.
What Colors Are Not
They are not a diagnosis, and they are not a medical claim. Pranic Healing works alongside medical care, never instead of it. If you have a condition, see your doctor, keep the appointments, and take this as support rather than a replacement.
They are not fixed labels either. Two healers can reach for different colors on the same complaint because their assessments differ, and both can be working sensibly.
What People Notice Afterwards
Responses vary, and the absence of a dramatic reaction is not a failure. What people most often report in the day that follows:
- A lightness, or a heaviness that lifts gradually over the next day
- Warmth or coolness in specific areas that has nothing to do with the room
- Deeper sleep for a night or two
- An emotional release that arrives a day later rather than during the session
- Nothing obvious at all, which is also a normal response and worth saying plainly
One session rarely settles anything long-standing. The work tends to build across a few visits, which is why the assessment at the start of each one matters more than any fixed plan.
If you are in Sydney and want to know what a session would involve for you, get in touch and ask. Sessions run in person and at a distance for people elsewhere in Australia.
