Pranic Healing for Grief: Where Loss Actually Settles

Grief is not something you get over on a schedule. It moves. Some weeks it sits in the chest like a hand pressed flat. Other weeks it is a flatness behind the eyes, and you get through a whole day without really being in it. Then a song, a smell, a phone call puts you back at the start.

Most of the men I see in Sydney do not come to talk about the loss. They come because talking has already done what it can and something still feels stuck. That is a reasonable place to start.

Here is what it can do, and what it cannot.

Where Grief Sits in the Energy Body

In pranic work we look for where the energy body is depleted and where it has thickened. Grief has a pattern. It gathers in the heart, the lungs and the throat: the centres that govern how you love, how you breathe and how you speak. You can see it before you look for it. A man breathing from the top of his chest. A voice that has lost its low note. A throat that closes when the name comes up.

When I hold my hands over the heart, most people report heat, or a heaviness that feels borrowed rather than earned. That is a useful moment: the feeling now has a location, and something with a location can be worked with. For the fuller picture of how these centres interact, I have written about each in Pranic Healing Chakras: What Each One Does.

Grief also comes out as anger more often than men admit. A short fuse. A hardness in the jaw. Resentment at people who get to keep their lives. That usually needs a slightly different approach, covered in Energy Healing for Anger: Where It Sits in the Body.

What Happens in a Session for Grief

It runs sixty minutes, fully clothed, no touching. You sit or lie down and I work in the energy field around you, well away from the body. Nobody asks you to relive anything, or to tell the story of the death, the leaving or the diagnosis unless you want to. You can see what the sessions involve before you book.

The pattern I follow is steady rather than dramatic:

  • Sweeping and cleansing the energy body, which clears what grief has deposited without needing the story
  • Working the heart, lungs and throat, then the lower centres if the loss has drained you physically
  • Energising depleted areas slowly, because pressing energy into a grieving body pushes it backwards
  • Closing and stabilising, so you are not left open for the rest of the day

What people notice is not euphoria. It is space. Men describe breathing lower, a quietness where a tight band used to sit, or being able to say the name without folding. Sometimes a session brings tears. Often it just brings tiredness and an early night.

What Pranic Healing Cannot Do

It cannot delete the loss. Nothing can, and anyone telling you otherwise is selling something else. It does not replace grief counselling, or the care of a GP or psychologist, and it is no shortcut through the process. If the loss is three weeks old and enormous, no amount of energy work means you get to skip it. You still walk it.

If you are not functioning, not sleeping, not eating, that is a conversation for a doctor first. What energy work can do is lighter. It can take some of the physical load off the body, so you are not grieving while exhausted. It can clear the places where feeling has pooled and stopped moving. Those are modest claims, and I would rather make them than ones I cannot keep.

When It Is Worth Booking

Sessions are in person in Sydney, and by distance anywhere in Australia if travelling is too much. Hours are Monday to Sunday, 8am to 8pm. Some men come weekly for a month and then monthly. Others come once to see what it is, and that is a complete answer too.

The signs it is worth a session:

  • The grief is old and has stopped moving, either flat or stuck on the same loop
  • You are carrying it in the body: tight chest, jaw, shoulders, broken sleep
  • You have done the talking and something still has not shifted
  • Anniversaries, birthdays and family events leave you flattened for days
  • You want one quiet hour where nobody needs an answer from you

Between sessions there is a free practice that helps: twenty minutes, guided, sat in a chair. Men who would never sit on a cushion take to it more easily than they expect. I wrote about it in Twin Hearts Meditation: What Happens When You Sit. If you want to ask whether this is the right fit, get in touch and tell me plainly what happened.
